Things to Do in December in Tallahassee

There are so many events in Tallahassee for the month of December. You can choose for things to do in December with children or opt out for a romantic dinner with your partner. Here I put together a pretty recent and active list of all things to do in Tallahassee this December 2018.

December events in Tallahassee 2018

  1. November 26: 2018 Downtown Thomasville Christmas Parade

    This event the Christmas Parade of Thomasville Georgia, one week week prior to the Tallahassee one. Local shops are opened and candies are given to those watching the parade.

  2. November 25-month of December - Public Ice Skating 2415 North Monroe Street

    Opens at 6PM. The official calendar can be found on their Facebook page but it is safe to say it will be opened each night until end of season. It costs $12 for a one hour and half session with skates.

  3. November 29: Esposito Open House

    From 5pm-8pm Esposito will held its holiday event. A whismsical night of food, music, scavenger hunts, enchanted forest, and deals on Christmas items. Klown Kapers will be supplying Elves and a DJ. The DeSoto Trail elementary school chorus will sing Christmas songs to get you in the Christmas spirit. For more info check their Facebook page.

  4. November 29: Holiday Shop Hop on Market Street

    Hosted by The Polka Dot Press, this Christmas event cherishes the entire Market Street block with the Holiday festivities. Join the merchants and restaurants on Market Street for a day filled with shopping, holiday bites & beverages and fun!

  5. November 30: The Wizard of Oz in Quincy

    The show takes place at the Quincy Theatre starting November 30. The show will be offered multiple times during the month of December 15. For all dates visit their Facebook page. Tickets are between $15 and $18. They offer shows during the day at 2:30PM. Phone number is 850-875-9444.

  6. November 30: Ralph Breaks the Internet: The IMAX Experience

    Opening Friday at Challenger Learning Center IMAX! 

    Advance showings begin Thursday: 7:45 pm, 9:55 pm
    Friday showtimes: 2:00 pm, 4:30 pm, 7:00 pm, 9:30 pm

  7. December 1: Cookies with Santa

    At Dorothy B. Oven Park 5PM-7PM join for cookies & hot cocoa with Santa. Tickets are $5. To purchase them please visit this site.

  8. December 1: Mistletoe Market - 9 AM · S Broad St, Cairo, GA 39828, United States

    Downtown Cairo will have open shops, food and music! According to the Facebook page, local artisans will display their handcrafted items.

  9. December 1, 10AM: Life-Size Candy Land at the Collins Main Library

    At Collins main library you can spin your way around the life-sized Candy Land game board. More information here with additional time and dates.

  10. December 1 and 2: Market Days Event

    According to the official page, Market Days is one of the Southeast’s largest and best juried arts and crafts shows, featuring the unique, handmade creations of over 300 artists and top-quality artisans and craftspeople. The event starts at December 1 at 8AM with early access tickets and it extends to December 2. The event is held at the North Florida Fairgrounds on 441 Paul Russel Road. Tickets are $6 adults and $4 kids.

  11. December 3rd: Mimi’s Wine Pairing Dinner: 6PM

    If you were lucky to reserve a spot you and your partner can enjoy a full dinner prepared by chef William and accompanied with selected wine. This is my favorite restaurant so I will be sure to enjoy the evening.

  12. 32 Annual Winter Festival - Saturday, December 1, 2018 at 3 PM – 10 PM Downtown Tallahassee on Park Ave.

    You can register for the one mile Jingle bell with your family as the mayor officially opens the holiday season. The race starts at 6:15PM and tickets are $15. You get a cute long sleeve t-shirt if you register early.

  13. December 2: Holiday Hosting with Harold

    Hosted by Hearth & Soul TLH this event will teach you how to cook for a holiday party. Harold will be providing samples of tasty recipes featuring the favorite Hearth & Soul provisions, teaching to craft a beautiful holiday charcuterie board, and showing how to create Harold's Signature Cocktail 🍸. Event is from 2-4PM.

  14. December 4: Holiday Open House

    Event hosted by the lifestyle store Hearth & Soul TLH, located in Market Street. Event is from 5Pm-8PM and you will enjoy live music and holiday surprises all day long, and special rum tastings with their friends at RumJava. Address: 1410 Market St.

  15. December 5: Holiday Tablescaping with ImaJo Design

    Hosted by Hearth & Soul TLH this event will teach you how to host a holiday party, teaching you how to decorate and arrange your dinner table. Join Ima Jo Design for a Holiday Tablescaping class! Enjoy some bubbles and bites and learn tips to easily set a stunning holiday table using seasonal florals, yard cuttings, and some of our favorite Hearth & Soul finishing touches! 

  16. December 9: Handel’s Messiah

    Handels’ messiah is a chorus and orchestra that will perform a free holiday concert. The show will starts at 7PM at the Lawton Chiles High School Auditorium - 7200 Lawton Chiles Lane, Tallahassee, 32312. Free to the public.

  17. December 9: Holiday Storytime! CHILDREN

    Join Heart & Soul in their library for a special Holiday Storytime with local author Carol Moore! 
    They will be serving snacks for kids and Lucky Goat coffee for parents. Plus you can get some Christmas shopping done while your kids enjoy storytime! More info on the event here.

  18. December 6-16: Charles Dickens' A Christmas Carol

    The show will be held at Theatre Tallahassee. Tickets are $22. The theatre is located on 1861 Thomasville Rd 850-224-8474

  19. December 7, 8 and 9: The living Christmas Story

    The 32st Annual Living Christmas Story takes place December 7 - 9, at 6:30 PM each evening. Killearn UMC is located at 2800 Shamrock Street South in Killearn Estates. According to their Facebook page the Killearn UMC is transformed into the little town of Bethlehem, complete with Roman soldiers, the Annunciation, Shepherds tending (live) sheep, Angels, King Herod’s Court, Mary and Joseph at the Inn, Tax Collectors, Fishermen, Wise Men, the Nativity and the Empty Cross of the Risen Christ.   20. December 13: Victorian Christmas in Thomasville Georgia.

    This event extends over two days and starts at 6PM-9PM. According to the Facebook page the event is a throw back in the past. There will be street performers, carolers, musicians, and dancers. Shop, dine, and welcome the holiday season in Downtown Thomasville.

  21. December 8: Movies in the Park (kids)

    Tekesta Park 7PM-9PM. Hot chocolate and cookies will be served. It is suggested to bring chairs and warm blankets as the movie will be outdoor. This is hosted by Canopy Roads Baptist Church. More info here.

  22. December 8: The cutest Handmade Market

    Located at 1502 Yancey St. local artist, Playtipuslife will be hosting the Handmade Market. This will be the 2nd Holiday market nestled in the backyard of Janae Easton. 9 women will be gathering to showcase their creative wares among a garden party.

  23. December 14 and 15: School Play/Comedy at Deerlake Middle School

    The comedy/play is called Cinderella and the substitue Fairy Godmother and will take place at Deerlake Middle School. Tickets can be purchased by email at pennb@leonschools.net or directly before the event. [I could not locate a Facebook page]

  24. December 14 and 15: Frozen: A tale of two sisters

    Lincoln High School Auditorium will hold this full length ballet production of the famous Disney movie. The event December 14 starts at 7:30PM, while the one on the 15th starts at 2:30PM. Tickets are $20 for adults and $12 for kids and can be purchased here.

  25. December 15: Celebrate & Decorate CHILDREN

    Let’s Go Luna and the Florida Capital Museum will offer an advanced screening of the brand new holiday special from PBS KIDS Let’s go Luna! series. They event will also offer children crafts and other activities. First screening starts at 11:00am, second one at 12PM. This event is located at the historic Capital building. You may want to park at Kleman Plaza and walk there, or around the metered spots downtown.

  26. December 15: Holiday Ornament Making

    Another great event at hearth and Soul, this time teaching how to decorate our Christmas tree and home. Create lasting memories and an ADORABLE ornament designed by you and your little one! Complimentary event but registration is required - Please call 850.894.SOUL to register & secure your spot (Class size is limited).   27. December 20-22: Charles Dickens' A Christmas Carol hosted by Faith Presbyterian Church.

    There are 3 dates for this show, December 20 and 21 at 7:30PM and December 22 at 2:30pm and then 7:30pm. Tickets can be purchased here, however when I tried to purchase the page was not working. You may want to call them directly at 850-385-6151.

  28. December 20: Elf Night!

    Dorothy B. Oven Park 3205 Thomasville Road will hold the Elf Night with hot cocoa, Christmas lights everywhere, music and cookies. The events starts at 5:30-8:30PM.
